Tulsa Hospital Offering $12,500 Signing Bonus for New Employees
by KTUL-TV Channel 8
Hospitals in Oklahoma's Green Country and across the Tulsa area have been struggling to stay adequately staffed, especially with so few people qualified to be registered nurses or nursing assistants. "It's very competitive, [and] there are lots of options for these folks," remarks Select Specialty Hospital of Tulsa CEO Charles Nasem. Select Specialty Hospital, housed inside of Oklahoma State University's Medical Center, has stayed almost fully staffed throughout the pandemic. One major reason? The facility has been giving new employees bonuses. Nasem remarks, "Our sign-on bonus currently for registered nurses is $12,500. For nursing assistants, it's $4,000 and for respiratory therapists, it's $10,000." To maintain a state of readiness, Select Specialty Hospital also holds virtual hiring events every month for prospective employees.
