Missouri Hospitals Receiving Staffing Help to Meet COVID-19 Demand

Battling a rise in COVID-19 cases, Missouri hospitals are bringing in support to boost staffing. For instance, Springfield-based Mercy Hospital recently opened its sixth COVID-19 unit to meet demand. Ten physicians from the St. Louis metro area, picking up shifts to relieve some of in-house physicians. Meanwhile, nearby CoxHealth has also been seeing a surge in COVID-19 patients. To help, CoxHealth has brought in 141 traveling nurses and respiratory therapists, with 66 more workers scheduled to start by July 26.
